ABOUT US

Community Awareness and Education

People with epilepsy often feel isolated and rejected because society does not clearly understand the condition of epilepsy. Through community awareness and education all sectors of the community are targeted, such as, educators and learners, hospital personnel, employers and employees, religious, professional and social groups. In doing so, the community does not only gain accurate information but also adopts a value system of acceptance and tolerence.

Economic Empowerment

People with epilepsy are fazed with difficulties when seeking employment. Therfore this programme addresses the need on the whole spectrum of employment: assessment and training by referral to appropriate centres, public education to employers and employees. The community is encouraged to engage in poverty alleviation and income generating projects eg. garden projects.

Outreach:

Awareness and training in the community for social work intervention and empowerment of the community. For example volunteer training, blanket distribution, food parcel and clothing projects and any other outreach as the need arises and finances are available.
